Gukesh Dommaraju won the title, becoming the youngest World Chess Champion in history, breaking Garry Kasparov's record. He played extremely well, and it's a very deserved result for him.

I was rooting for Ding Liren, and seeing him play such beautiful chess after being away from the board for almost a year due to depression was especially inspiring. I wish him nothing but the best, and I'll keep following him in future tournaments.

Incredible dancing all around.

Personally, I think

spoilerIvy and Nika should have won, if even just to unseat previous champions, but in the final analysis it was all some of the best breaking I've ever seen.

Man City won the past four leagues in a row, a unique accomplishment in about 150 years of the league.

But they're having a bad season now: have lost 3 already (out of 12), where last season they lost 3 in the whole 38-game season.

Liverpool go in 8 points ahead. A win at Anfield today would put them 11 points ahead of their rival, which, although it's so early, seems a deep hole to dig out of.

Fuck the MLS (hexbear.net)

Fuck that shitty ass plastic money grabbing league. What kind of soccer league uses a goddamn franchise model, territory rights, and billion dollar expansion fees. They are monopolizing and have done more harm for the game than good, boycot that shit.

Lower league American soccer is its own fun-ass mess though. The drama between leagues, the constant hope for promotion and relegation, and the high chance that there’s a team in your area makes it metal as hell. The USL Championship (2nd division of American soccer, although there is no pro/rel in this country) final was last Saturday and it was sick as hell. I’m bummed the fuck out that Charleston didn’t make it into the final but Colorado Springs played a great game vs Rhode Island. If you go further down the pyramid you’ll find even more authenticity and good times. USL2, The League for Clubs (coming soon), and UPSL are all fun places to start down the rabbit hole. I love this shit.

spoiler90% sure none of this made sense but it was a fun rant, watch and support lower league soccer nerd
