They know users create the value but in order to turn that value into a form that makes investors happy they have to squeeze the users. It's like a digital Macquarie Island and we're all penguins.
This feels like an odd episode to be hosted on "all things comedy".
There are ways to accomplish that without being overtly hostile to the people who give your site value. He's just choosing to do it in the stupidest way possible.
It's either overtly hostile or covertly hostile
Covertly hostile is the smarter way to do it.
It may be, but I honestly prefer overt hostility, it just makes things clearer.
You're right that it's good he chose the stupid way because it shows people exactly how he feels. You'd just think that he'd want to choose the most profitable way rather than pissing off the unpaid people who give his site value. Ah, well.
