I've always coughed after eating, I think it's a lung irritation thing, and Covid's made me really self conscious about it in public but it's not Covid.

Maybe people also have irritated lungs.

This could also be a Vagus nerve thing. Lots of people have a cough reflex triggered by stimulation of the Vagus nerve, including the part in the digestive tract. It's called the Arnold's nerve cough reflex.

I definitely had this way before Covid though.

it was actually the worst during the acute phase of covid

I've noticed a lot of people have that symptom (covid or not) it's pretty interesting
