This movie is insanely reactionary. My partner loves it but it is super fucking fascist.

It has entertaning moments, and Jamie Foxx is cool. It also has Colm Meany, aka everyone's favorite union-man .

It's funny because the whole movie is basically "we give criminals too many rights" agitprop. There's some cool kills though, and I don't entirely hate it, but a revenge like Monkey Man is more down my alley.

Hell, Rebel Ridge is similar in being about a man wronged by the system but far less reactionary.

love Saulnier, Blue Ruin and Green Room are really good so I can't wait to watch Rebel Ridge

Monkey Man I've never heard of thanks for the recommendation

Monkey man has several kills I've never seen in a movie before.

My biggest complaint about Rebel Ridge is

spoilerThe lack of kills. The main guy never actually kills any of the corrupt pigs. There's some good fights but it's all nonlethal. Which might be a satire because they are still cool.
