Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

MODERATORS

Image is of many Hamas soldiers supervising the handing over of Israeli hostages to cars heading out of the Gaza Strip.

After 15 months of genocide - and resistance to it - the Israeli regime realized that they could not win a military victory against Hamas, and were forced to sign a humiliating ceasefire in order to get their hostages returned.

With much of Syria under the control of Al-Qaeda, and an increasing level of covert infiltration into Lebanon, the crisis in the Middle East is not over, and we may still be in its beginning stages, as the center of hegemony continues its gradual shift away from the United States. Their navy, once considered the best in the world, is likely also not very happy about their ships and aircraft carriers being forced to retreat by Yemen, one of the poorest countries; and all eyes are on Iran, who has, over the last year and a half, demonstrated a newfound confidence and strength to directly strike Israel.

The recovery for Gaza will take, at a minimum, decades; it could indeed never fully recovery to even how it was before, considering it is not in Israel's interests to see their concentration camps recover. But Hamas has proven to be steadfast and the tunnel network has proven its resilience, despite facing some of the most powerful conventional bombing in history. This shows that Palestine's liberation is a when, not an if; and hopefully a much sooner "when" than expected before October 7th.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news.
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.
English-language Twitter account in the same group as the previous two. - Telegram here.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

US vassals truly have a delusional population:
https://xcancel.com/CarlZha/status/1881702366657101880

Looking ahead, how likely do you think it is that in the next 20 years China will be the strongest power in the world - stronger than the United States?

US: 41% disagree

South Korea: 68% disagree

Ukraine: 86% disagree

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 39 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I mean South Korea and Ukraine have a vested interest in the United States remaining the world hegemon. If the US loses its place as the world hegemon, these countries are cooked, as the youth say nowadays.

[–] Gucci_Minh@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago

Hell Joseon would be better off without their horrible capitalist oligarchy, and Ukrainians would be better off with a peace deal, even an unfavourable one, vs fighting to the last Ukrainian. These "countries" are already cooked, things can only get better if American influence leaves them.

[–] Hohsia@hexbear.net 36 points 1 week ago (1 children)

walter-breakdown

Great, so South Korea and the Ukraine are also effectively brainwashed by capitalist propaganda. It’s seeming more and more like a losing case

[–] CarmineCatboy2@hexbear.net 37 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It might be more likely to be the case that people in these countries have a vested interest in the question. The Koreas are technically still at war and China is perceived as an ally of the North. Same dynamic with the Ukrainians. There's no shortage of propaganda in the US, but americans aren't deluded to the point of an 86% confidence that China cannot possibly become more powerful than them.

[–] Hohsia@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Yeah I was sort of ignoring the US figure because it’s certainly misleading. But it’s a truly hopeless feeling seeing those numbers in countries that are not the United States. Expected more from the people but no one is immune to propaganda I suppose

[–] RomCom1989@hexbear.net 25 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Why would you expect more?

Makes no sense to me

These two are are on the literal bleeding edge of American foreign policy and propaganda, it would make less sense for a nation who's about to reenter it's dictator era and another who is dead in the water (both are,but this one is actively destroying itself) to start thinking positively of a nation who's only partly opposed to the US,so no USSR scenario, where you knew if you hated america, they were your people, instead,a complicated, jumbled mess that is something that the average person who's either dodging bombs or slaving away for Samsung wouldn't have the time to parse

feels like the thing with chinese people on rednote being shocked to hear how much it sucks here in the usa, the usa number is lower because we live here and we can see it falling apart from up close

[–] miz@hexbear.net 30 points 1 week ago (2 children)

kinda surprised by how low the US number is, but people seem to know that the answer to all those "but at what cost?" headlines is "US hegemony"

[–] jack@hexbear.net 28 points 1 week ago

Patriotism in the US is at an all time low, everybody knows the ship is sinking

[–] xiaohongshu@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I have talked to enough Americans to know that many think China overtaking the US is inevitable (including people who think US is being destroyed by “wokeness”).

I think Trump is likely the perfect president to surrender the US to China. He has promised to visit China within the first 100 days, most likely to kneel before the Emperor and pledge his loyalty. It’ll be interesting to see what the US-China negotiations look like - it could be the defining moment of the century.
