Like if you weigh 100kg, your minimum daily protein goal is 100g of protein.
You need that 100g of protein regardless of your eating plan, vegan, western, mediterranean, dash, low fat, carnivore, etc.
The entire body is made up of proteins; They are necessary to maintain the overall body (not just for weight lifters).
On a carnivore intervention, you still need 100g of protein, the rest of the dietary requirements should come from fat. That is why 70/30 ground beef is such a powerful cost savings super food on carnivore.
500g (~1lbs) of ground beef is about $2.50ish around the world for 90g of protein. 2.7 cents per g of protein, thats high quality bioavailable protein too. Thus for $2.77 a day a 100kg person can meet their 100g of protein requirements. Which is 1388 calories, with zero sugar.
A small potato weighs about 100g, has about 1.8g of protein (some DIAAS research says its biocomplete, but I'm not sure how that compares to the USDA FDC protein number per 100g). To get 100g of protein, one would need to eat 55 small potatoes. A 100g potato costs about 20 cents - 11 cents per g of protein, x 55, it costs $11 to get 100g of protein from potatoes (Eating 5.5kg, or 12lbs....). Which is 4015 calories, mostly from starch (sugar).
I don't know about others, but my grocery bill has gone down to about 25% of my pre-carnivore spend.
I'm pretty sure my groceries bill has gone down, but I can't tell for sure, since I have gone from shopping often, to shopping less than weekly. I have noticed that bulk meat from the butcher hasn't increased in price over the last few years, while everything else has.
