I don't even know what to really say about it. Truth be told I was kind of numb when the first migrants where shipped off to CECOT and GITMO, which is bad on my part, maybe it was a coping mechanism idk. But this guy's harrowing case, the case of all these migrants that did nothing wrong outside of crossing a stupid line in the sand for the hopes of finding a better life, has me despairing even harder than usual. I just keep thinking about this all day and I feel guilty that my stupid first world white ass is free and allowed to partake in the empire's treats while these people are sent off to concentration camps, probably to die.

I know this should radicalize me even further and strengthen my resolve to be a better leftist but I just catch myself like slipping into nihilism that it's all futile and the bad guys have won.

My fellow American is absolutely rabid and bloodthirsty when it comes to the subject of treatment of imprisoned people or perceived criminals. It's a widespread and fundamental sickness of the psyche, and I'm not sure exactly how to interact with people IRL about the subject. I think it was an important realization I had during the Bush II era, the extent to which my fellow Americans were okay with actual, real Nazi-level death squad shit and torture directed towards people who the perceived vaguely as bad.

The American psyche has an overly simplistic view of good & evil and carries doses of fear within it about society at large. Can thank the US propaganda machine and like local news reporting. Fearful people will not make much sense in their reading of things but maybe making them aware of their own fear that they carry could be helpful?
