We are actually going to find out what it does to the American psyche to watch a video of Pvt. Gomer Pyle staring dead-eyed into an FPV drone as it does it's little humiliation dance before blowing him up.

You gotta think that many state actors are thinking long and hard about how to launch a drone attack against US and Israeli bombers and strike aircraft while they're on the ground. The US B2 fleet in particular is only 19 aircraft, and the locations of their hangars is well known.

It's a dreamlike feeling, to be a layperson, and see people make decisions that are so obviously going to lead to a huge disaster. You even start to doubt yourself sometime. But they really are going to do it, and it really is going to be a huge fucking disaster.

It's fitting that we are entering Q2 of the 21st century with a crisis big enough to match anything from Q1

One of the fundamental fuckups of western capital is the constant drive to eliminating slack and overcapacity in systems. It turns out, having lots of extra capacity has been one of China's huge competitive advantages. Being able to spin up production on a lot of extra unexpected demand puts them in the position to benefit from black swan events in a way that catches western capital flat-footed.

That's how every UN vote goes these days. It's basically the explicit, official position of the USA that International Law such as it is:

  1. Protects but does not bind the USA
  2. Binds but does not protect everyone else

Without looking into it, I would guess that this particular UN vote was basically just a performance vote to demonstrate just how psycho the USA is about that sort of thing.

What on earth happened in the last couple of decades that caused USA based Capital to retreat from sex so much? It used to be such an obvious adage that "sex sells", and that businesses would always find ways around prudish cultural taboos to sell it. Nowadays, it seems like the culture is fairly accepting of it, but it's the business world that smothers away any potential sexy stuff.

Something extremely re-playable from your childhood that you know like the back of your hand. Alpha Centauri or Super Mario 3 would be my own choices.

That's a fair response even if you did read the link.

They don't. The DPRK makes no secret about their position: the existence of the ROK is the result of a naked ploy by the USA to create a country-sized beachhead that could be used against the USSR and/or China in an eventual World War 3. The ROK's position was not too different for many decades.

I want to host some LAN parties this winter, and am looking for some Free Software Games that would be a fun time. We already play some Counterstrike and StarCraft 2, but I want to expand into some actual Free games. Windows compatibility is a must, MacOS compatibility is desirable!

The two on my radar are:

  • Hedgewars, which seems like a strong candidate. We played a ton of Worms 2 in the 90s
  • 0 A.D., since we're already fans of RTS games.

But I know there must be some wacky ones out there which would be suitable for 30 minutes of pick up play.

The 2040 plan is mainly an ending of single-family zoning. Anecdotally, I've seen a lot more apartments going up around the Twin Cities in the last few years. The Frey regime are neoliberal ghouls, and this is a classic YIMBY approach to tackling housing shortages. The opponents of this plan are somehow even worse, an astroturfed army of KKKarens.

Choice quote: "Residents of color already face significant barriers to home ownership, which would have been exacerbated under the plan as a result of reduced access to and availability of single family properties," said activist Nekima Levy Armstrong, a member of the plaintiffs' legal team, in a statement calling Tuesday's ruling a "major victory."

What are the Hexbear thoughts on this whole situation?
