(2) After a year of this, the wife has a baby and works just 20 hrs a week, still at $15/hr. The husband has been promoted to store manager or higher (convenience and fast-food store chains are desperate for workers they can promote) and makes $25/hr.

(3) Their new combined income is $67,600--less than before, but still enough for a good life except in a few megalopolises. This is a completely realistic scenario, and not even demanding (the husband could easily continue to work 48 hrs a week). And it's been done with jobs at convenience stores.

(4) If you come up with places where the starting wages are lower, they're highly likely to be in poor states where the cost of living is lower. It's still a realistic scenario. Making enough money to support a family is easy in the United State if you're willing to work. Easier than it was in the fabled 1950s.

They'll literally talk about feeding millions of people alligators or put on theatrically staged shows of tying people up to chairs with bags on their heads and executing them via gunshot to the back of the head among other monstrous acts but will cry crocodile tears enough to flood the Great Plains with an ocean and accuse you of being a monster in human skin if you don't want basic human rights for everyone.

It is difficult for me to imagine what "personal liberty" is enjoyed by an unemployed person, who goes about hungry, and cannot find employment.

Real liberty can exist only where exploitation has been abolished, where there is no oppression of some by others, where there is no unemployment and poverty, where a man is not haunted by the fear of being tomorrow deprived of work, of home and of bread. Only in such a society is real, and not paper, personal and every other liberty possible

The parasites desire to return our lives to 19th century industrial revolution living standards where entire families lived in open communal basement spaces with only a broom closets worth of space to live in then immediately say your life is still better than the 19th century because at least you have hot chips, T.V., and a smartphone to doomscroll on.

There's a recommendation in the comments for revisionist history book that centers the Comanche perspective you called "The Comanche Empire" by Pekka Hämäläinen. The Finn dude's like a fucking Rhodes scholar of American History specializing in Native American history. Apparently he also has a book called "Lakota America: A New History of Indigenous Power".

Guess that's two more books for the to read pile

"The End of Israel" (hexbear.net)

This is increasingly a genre of youtube videos in itself, but I watched an interesting one last night that I wanted to discuss here. I'll summarize the video: an Arab Jewish guy who says he lived in israel all his life (I think he lives in Mexico now?) and that he has experience with every aspect of israeli society (religious, secular, rich, working class) basically says that israel is finished. They're going to attack Iran again (not much of a surprise to anyone here), probably within a few weeks or months (this is my own prediction, the USA is already preparing for this by abandoning Ukraine), and this time Iran is going to hit them with enough heavy missiles to make it impossible to live in Israel. The IDF will become non-functional and Palestinians in the West Bank and outside of Tel Aviv will rise up and (with the help of Hezbollah, which will invade from the north, and maybe even Hamas in Gaza) end Israel. He said that Jews are only really a majority in and around Tel Aviv; outside of Tel Aviv Jews and Palestinians are roughly 50-50. I think hexbear also knows about the political situation in israel, how society there is in crisis (the liberals can't form a majority while the center-right (Netanyahu) and the far-right (Ben Gvir) can't do anything except start wars). This makes another war inevitable, it's just a question of when.

For Iran, the trick is to end israel without getting nuked. The video guy thinks that israel won't nuke Iran (because israel can't be certain that Iran or Pakistan won't retaliate with nukes of their own), but my opinion is that this is wishful thinking. Backed into a corner, I think there is a good chance that israel will use nuclear weapons, even if it means they themselves will get nuked or that the fallout will affect their own population (or that the fallout will drift over Europe or China). The Samson option is a thing. It's completely insane, but israel is also completely insane. They will not go quietly. They will not just throw up their hands and say, oh well, you win. (This is what I suspect Justin Podur would say.)

The guy in the video also had some interesting things to say about israeli society that I didn't know: that Palestinian parties make up about 20% of the knesset but that the Jewish parties refuse to form coalitions with them due to racism, and also that the mood in israeli right now is ecstatic, everyone there is apparently happy, and the government is constantly saying that everything is amazing and going really well. It sounds insane because it is insane. I've heard other israelis say that people are currently like zombies in israel, maybe they're just ecstatic zombies. This is my impression of white americans in general too.

I saw some other discussion on hexbear about people asking why the USA loves israel so much. What does israel do for the USA? It basically keeps the middle east under control. It reduces countries as far away as Morocco to the status of Native American reservations, except Morocco has almost forty million people. The stock market also depends on genociding Palestinians; we are currently in a genocide bubble. Yet the USA wasn't always so devoted to israel. Its main proxies in the Middle East were Iran and Saudi Arabia until the Iranian Revolution—that's when I think the real American devotion to israel began. And if israel does actually fall, I suspect that Palestine will be blockaded like Cuba (unless the new government there can somehow lib out like post-Apartheid South Africa but that seems extremely unlikely to me even though there will probably still be many Jews living in post-israel Palestine), and that the USA will shift even more of its support to its client states (Egypt and Saudi especially) to maintain control of Middle Eastern oil and also the geo-strategic crossroads of three continents. But who knows? Once israel is gone, I think there will be so many changes, the nothing ever happens crew is really going to be upset. We'll be lucky if these changes take place without nuclear weapons being involved.

Just posting this here for hexbear to comment.

We survived the hospital. Now we’re fighting to find a safe home.

Hey comrades 💙

I’m reaching out again because my sisters and I really need your help right now. Thanks to your incredible support before, my sisters were able to get the emergency medical care they needed .. you truly saved their lives. Now we’re facing the next big challenge: finding a safe place to stay.

Right now, we’re stuck in a temporary spot that’s not safe or permanent. We could be asked to leave any time, and with things getting worse for LGBTQ+ people here, it’s terrifying not knowing what could happen next.

We can’t go back to the Gorom camp .. the host community doesn’t want us there anymore. UNHCR told us to stay in Juba while they keep working on our resettlement, but they’re out of donations due to the global crisis. They asked us to try to “blend in” here for now, but that’s almost impossible without a safe place. There are over 300 LGBTQ+ refugees here from Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Ethiopia, and Congo in the same struggle after camp attack and no safe house is big enough for everyone.

So we’re trying to get a small, affordable apartment here in Juba that can fit the four of us together. Somewhere we can finally feel safe and breathe again.

So far, I’ve raised $66 through my GoFundMe, but it’s not nearly enough yet. Here’s our budget for this move:

🚐 Transport to Juba for 4 people = $100–150 🏠 Initial rent + deposit (1–2 months) =$250–350 🛏 Bedding and essentials (mattresses, blankets, cooking items) = $150 🍲 Food & basics for the first month = $200 🏥 Follow-up checkups and meds =$50

📌 Estimated total needed: $700–850

This would cover getting us to Juba safely, securing a small apartment, and making sure we have food and the meds my sisters still need.

Any support donations, shares, or advice on safe places would mean everything to us right now. Every dollar brings us closer to safety and keeps us off the streets. 💜

The mutual aid link is in my profile just tap my name. Thank you so much for standing with us.

got a makgeolli making set, comes with a little bag filled with the yeast, rice shit, basically everything needed to make an an-home cup of makgeolli that actually tastes pretty good.

took my 3 gallon fermenting bottle and threw in the orange pack with like 4 pounds of honey and letting it sit for a while to see what happens.

anyone wanna place bets i'm gonna fuck up real bad and somehow poison myself with a bad batch?

personally I'm hoping it comes out really nice with that hint of orange complimenting the wildflower honey I shoved in but if it's faint enough I think I'll just cut up some limes and throw it in the mix somewhere down the line
