I was thinking about this when I saw the news. Now is the best time for them to split since they're both so politically insignificant. It won't make any difference and they'll probably all vote the same way. They'll probably get back together in a few terms when the libs seem electable again.

Well, this might be a wildcard but I'd like to see the Liberals start to follow more in the line of the Teals and importantly, stay that way to win back more seats. In which case the Nationals will either hold onto their ideals and become increasingly politically irrelevant, or be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century in order to form a coalition with the reformed Liberals.
