There's a nationality that has been hounded in my country by huge volumes of derogatory disinformation. I want to wear a flag pin supporting those people. But, their government at home is tyrannical and I'm not a fan of using the national flag for that reason. I'm struggling here with a way to clearly and visually show my support of this community.

No, flags, coats of arms, etc are about the government, not people. You might find some revolutionary flag if there was one in your culture but that's it. Still it would represent some old revolutionary ideas, not modern people.

So no. But don't be shy of using text on pins: this way you would be able to express your idea in the most precise way.

Thanks. I'll try to find another cultural symbol. Although for larger countries that can be quite difficult. In this case, it's India. The trashier end of our society here in Ireland seem to have marked them as convenient targets for harassment and assault.
