I don't know, man. Losing an anti-imperialist country that happens to have the largest Oil reserves in the world to the United States and still have the sanctions and embargoes placed on them after capitulating to the imperialists looks like a loser move to me. Even the Soviets managed to get huge trade benefits by signing the M-R pact with Nazis that later helped them prepare for the war. Iran had their sanctions lifted by fighting back against US instead of capitulating.
Look, I sympathize, and I don't really like the way it seems they are rolling over so easily either but... calling for an overthrow which has a large chance of just creating further damage and instability this early seems a bit premature. Deng's China and their deals with the US could of been viewed as capitulating too and yet here we are.
It's an insult to compare this comprador regime to Deng Xioping's China.
Edit: Except for the invasion of Vietnam.
What makes you think Venezuela has the same capacity to respond militarily as Iran, right next to the empire itself? What makes you think Iran would not have preferred a diplomatic solution that would avoid having hundreds of schoolgirls murdered in an instant? Sometimes, tactical retreats are the only way to gain strategic victories. The government of Venezuela is intact, and while their hands are now more tied, they continue to exist and the legacy of the Bolivarian revolution remains. Any revolt at this moment would greatly risk having the US-backed opposition taking power, not the proletariat.
Rodriguez government doesn't even pretend to be sovereign.
Bro you need to stop treating this like a Marvel Movie. Venezuela has no leverage against the US.
The reason Iran could do what it did is because it's a large country, has extremely favourable geography for defense, has one of the best domestic military industries for missiles, and their nuclear option, SoH, can bring the world economy to its knees.
Despite all that, Iran has been pushing for negotiations and diplomacy. Because you can't treat real life like a movie. Every Iranian that dies in this war is a loss. Every piece of infrastructure destroyed is a loss.
Venezuela is in an even worse position. They have none of Iran's advantages, and they're right next door to the US.
If you're upset about this, you better prepare yourself because this is going to become very common in the LatAm as the US starts retreating from the east and starts reasserting their power in LatAm to the delusions of being a super power alive.
Do they not? They are navigating a frail position where the US Empire can come in again at any moment. If they pretended nothing happened whatsoever then the US Empire would still be exerting the same brutal pressure they were exerting at the peak.
I think it's still too early to say we lost Venezuela. Like another comrade has said here, some sanctions were lifted, and a deal was made to receive Petroleum royalties.
We need to remember that Venezuela still suffered a strategic defeat, they can't just act like Maduro and Flores weren't kidnapped, plus they aren't as strong as Iran or the USSR, and they are much closer to the US, so their current stance is understandable.
About Washington's claims of now controlling the country: They keep saying the same thing about all other countries they attacked. They'll never admit they attacked Venezuela for so little gain as a simple setback of the Bolivarian revolution, just like they'll never admit they were humiliated by Yemen, Iran, or China, or that they weren't able to balkanize Russia.
Personally, the news given by comrade rainpizza on Venezuela have me believe I should still show support.
