In 2005 it went this high and I bought a diesel because I had to drive a lot. I'm sure many of you are not old enough to even remember 2005, but back then that some of the high fuel mileage vehicles got a big boost in sales. It lasted for a short time.
This time we do have at least some electric large vehicle options and so for those who really think their Image depends on driving the biggest vehicle possible. There are options that are not just gas and we'll see if those last. All electric trucks don't seem to do well for people who actually NEED a truck, but that's pretty rare.
ah yes, the 'it's clean diesel so if you're driving further distances it's better' bullshit that ushered in dieselgate.
VW et al convinced fucktons of normally sensible people to pour yet more and worse shit into the atmosphere for over a decade.
Dieselgate was later. not that diesel was clean, but in 2005, my car met all emissions regulations at the time without cheating.
I almost fell for it before that while debacle hit.
