Try smaller picture houses. Brunswick Picture House and Thornbury Picture House generally have more interesting movies shown, as well as the more well-known films too.

Palace Theatres tends to be similar as well, while also showing international films too. Generally I've had a better time when avoiding Village and Hoyts

I like going to Nova and wish I could make it there for special showings more often.

The only reason we couldn't do that this time is we're trying to watch Mortal Kombat II, which is getting hard to find and the indies rightfully wouldn't have shown it to start with

Oh no they will absolutely be showing MKII. They're independent cinemas, not arthouses
