Hey chat is it a good thing if:

  • there’s a looming energy crisis
  • a bunch of crops are having really low yields
  • there are lakes and rivers completely drying up
  • we’re about to enter a super El Niño
  • data/fusion centers are polluting/consuming the water/air en masse
  • thousands of people have died in India due to heat before summer’s even officially hit
  • and there’s another pandemic brewing in Africa just prior to millions of people traveling for the World Cup?

How long do we have before shit starts to break down due to lack of food and water, even in the imperial core? I give it less than a year at best.

In all seriousness though? Eat now. Put on a few pounds if your skinny. Nothing crazy but don't be too thin because a few pounds can save your life if food is hard to come by. And buy a huge bag of rice and dried beans and just stick it in your pantry. Couple tubs of peanut butter. Those are all cheap, calorie dense, and give you carbs, fats, and protein. It can get you through a tough few months. Plus they last forever anyway so you have time to eat them even if you don't need them in an emergency.

20lbs bag of dried white rice 10lbs bag of dried pinto beans 2 40oz containers of peanut butter. That's roughly 30,000 calories for like 30-40$. If food prices get out of control using that to supplement what you have by just adding fresh produce to it and stuff is a great way to not go hungry.

If you want meat and have freezer space you can buy bags of chicken quarters now and clean/freeze them individually for later. They're the cheapest meat you can get usually. Usually comes in a massive 10lbs bag.

Being poor teaches you how to make a dollar stretch.

get in a habit of using those dried rice and beans too. It doesn't last forever and cycling through it will keep it somewhat "fresh" but also give you practice making food you like out of them.
