The spider is an invasive species, and hitched a ride on an "invasive" boat.
The invaders died, and the boat has been abandoned long enough for a spider to start building a web.
The "invaders" are actually running away from the boat because they're scared of the spider.

The spider has invaded the boat, so even if they win they lose (they'll come back and find the spider).
The first two panels are only happening in the spider's mind (it sees its self as an invading hoard).
