People against Hitler were told they hated Germany. People against Franco were told they hated Spain.
People against Trump... do you see a pattern here?
I mean I'm always hearing people on the left say fuck the US. I figured they just owned hating everything our country has stood for.
In your own words, what do you think "our country has stood for"?
If you don't objectively think that the US has been on the wrong side of history many times over the last 200 years, you might be living in a propaganda world.... I think it's asinine to call valid criticism of the US "hating", I would even go as far as saying that it's Unamerican.
Yeah I love freedom, equality, and democracy. I wish we'd commit to these ideas harder
Or... at all
I hate everything our country has stood for because it stands for hate and bigotry. It says it stands for freedom, but there's always so many caveats that it doesn't even resemble it in the end for most people, so I can't honestly say that it ever actually stood for it in the first place.
Even our founding fathers only stood for freedom for themselves and other white men. I understand that was the norm back then, but I still don't think it needs to be respected just because the idea that women or black people deserved rights was so foreign back then. If anything it just means that you shouldn't fully respect anyone from before today's idea of justice was established and accepted, just like future people will likely look to us and say we weren't accepting enough to earn their respect.
It's not like the US didn't earn that hate over the last 100 years...
