I will say that I disagree with the principle you have to have been an adult, teen, or even alive to dislike a politician. But also this kid is throwing out the most drivelous talking point possible, so fuckem.

Christ I'm old (I'm in my 20s)

[–] 7101334@lemmy.world 13 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I loathe Obama because he illegally bombed Yemenis and other people, then bragged about how good at killing he was.

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I loathe Obama, because his centrism cooked many leftist brains too, not just liberals'.

Want stronger secularism? No, we should have less secularism, because a true christian like Obama deducts secularism from the bible, everyone else is a faker, let's just ignore all the bad parts of the bible! Imagine if we got a second Obama, who was an actual socialist. Also we can only defeat an evil that bends the rules by following their newly created rules for us, then not care when they don't follow them!

I remember being super overjoyed when Obama won as I was entering college, and I still think he's objectively a good man who did a hard job, at the same time, dude blew up a lot of brown people. Universal healthcare is mainly a bipartisan fuck-up, but dude was a war hawk.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

What!? You mean after he got the Nobel Peace Prize he went on to drop 25k bombs on the Middle East.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 3 points 9 hours ago

I feel like that is almost a prerequisite for the Nobel peace prize... Henry Kissinger got one for fuck's sake.

[–] Impractical_Island@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Well, I'll say it like this.

In the occident, we engineer our culture to control those who cannot think for themselves.

Obama is genuinely a good man, though I haven't met him. Regardless, it behooves the power structure to have those who align with Obama to have the evidence to convince them his path is the right path for progress.

Trump is a genuinely shit man, though I haven't met him. Regardless, it behooves the power structure to have those not aligned with him to hate him so they are distracted and have a target to unify against. Likewise, it is good to have bad people cheer for him, for it tells us who the bad people are.

You're in a police state.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Oh it is way worse than just a police state. The one defining power the US has is extermination. We live in state of constant extermination where our lives are worth nothing compared to corporate profits. We die and they lie.

[–] Impractical_Island@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

No we live in a state of forced evolution. People have to continuously adapt and the best adaptors break out of the system of machines to learn the occult, which just means "hidden."

The Illuminati was part of the police state. Guide people waking up to the half-lies into the occult while catching those people who just wanted to burn the church to the ground.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago

That is an interesting way to look at it, thanks.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 18 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

No I've grown to dislike America because of the rot trump embodies

[–] PhoenixDog@lemmy.world 6 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

As a 40yo Canadian, I've always loathed America and what they stood for on the Global scale. The global police, the central trading partners of everyone despite offering nothing, having the primary metric of the global economy... But I never hated Americans. I always had a tremendous amount of respect for the kindness of your average American despite what their country does to the world.

The Trump happened and watching 2/3rds of the American Population either voting for it or being completely complacent on it (not voting at all) shows how much the average American cares not only about their own countrymen but human beings all over the globe.

I never had a lot of respect for America. I no longer have respect for Americans either.

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 3 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

It was so shocking when he won. We really didn't know how racist and sexist Americans could be when given the choice.

I do blame the Democratic establishment to a large degree for offering hurting Americans literally nothing, but I didn't think they'd choose... that, over nothing.

The nicest thing I can say about it is at least it shows Americans want radical change.

[–] PhoenixDog@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

We really didn’t know how racist and sexist Americans could be when given the choice.

That's really the crux of it all isn't it? When given a Presidential Candidate who was overtly racist, hateful, made fun of disabled people, immigrants, and punching down at every mariginalized group in North America and the majority of the American people literally watched that and said "I'm either okay with this, or excited about it" really shows how Americans as a people are. They were just a bunch of racist, hateful people the whole time until Trump gave them the avenue to be their true selves.

[–] 7101334@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

America is built on white supremacy from its founding. The whole world just fell for American exceptionalism propaganda.

But with that said, people tried kind, left-wing populism first with Bernie. That was blocked (random source, sorry if it sucks). Right-wing populism is beneficial to the oligarchs who own both political parties, so Trump wasn't blocked.

Bush II and my high school experience. Jingoism and anti intellectualism was taught at that school.

[–] fratermus@piefed.social 32 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

You loathe Trump because you loathe America

I loathe Trump because I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

Same. I can't fathom how any veteran or current military member supports him. These days I'm ashamed to say I am a veteran.

[–] elbiter@lemmy.world 58 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

People against Hitler were told they hated Germany. People against Franco were told they hated Spain.

People against Trump... do you see a pattern here?

[–] motruck@lemmy.zip 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Three fucking people. You loathed Obama like we loathe trump. I don't loathe trump I just want him to stop doing shit only for himself and cronies. Every president does it but so far none have made it their main focus like trump has.

[–] FlordaMan@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago

mwah, I generally loathe people who are enormous self-centered babies who pretend like they are smart and in any way capable of running a country.

[–] trashboypro@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 22 hours ago

"We loathed Obama because he loathed America" speak for yourself you imperial, I hate Obama because he's the smiling and reassuring face of an evil torturer.

I feel like these are just bot accounts. People are arguing with propaganda bot accounts.

(Referencing the pro trump account, btw)

Could very well be Bot-on-Bot violence.

I'm sure I've seen this exchange a thousand times on Reddit.

Yeahhhh, if you wanna go ahead and stop expecting things to turn around as soon as Boomers die off, that'd be great.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If Obama loathed America I’d respect him more

[–] Crashumbc@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Exactly, Obama was decent but was still into a lot of the corruption that plagues US politics.

  • Professional influencer,

  • talks to another influencer,

  • on... Threads?

It's just attention chum.

(And I did look up both posters, but precisely zero credibility/background is presented on the Threads UI)

[–] fireweed@lemmy.world 35 points 1 day ago (8 children)

Things is, you're totally within your rights to loathe someone who was "before your time," such as Reagan or Thatcher or Jackson or Jefferson or... But to use "hated" in the past tense means either you used to hate this individual but no longer do, or that you hated them back when they were relevant. Since this individual clearly has not had a change of heart re: Obama, we must assume the latter, that this individual had strong emotional opinions about politics before they even hit puberty, which as anyone who has even met a child before can attest is utter nonsense.
