You get used to it when it’s been sinking since before you were born.
It's disingenuous to equate pre-trump with post-trump.
Bruh.
Reagan.
Bruh, Nixon.
Bruh. The Native Genocide.
Don't forget chattel slavery!
Dude, Wilson.
Bruh.
I take your point, but Trump is the culmination of 40 years of austerity, wealth inequality, and dog whistling. To extend the visual metaphor, we first noticed the ship listing during Trump, but we'd been taking on water since Reagan.
we were taking the ship apart before trump causing it to sink while others tried to fix it but under trump he is trying to get rid of the water by drilling as many holes as he can so it can drain out.
It was all about shifting the Overton window. The establishment, corporate Republicans realized that if they just go a little farther and pull from the full on Nazi side that the middle would be very close to what they actually want.
The thing about creating a movement like that is that you bring on True Believers, and it becomes hard to tell the difference. They didn't intend for that contingent to actually drive, but they paved the path and all :shocked Pikachu: when he grabbed the wheel.
I still hold that he gets absolutely nowhere without Putin's help. I watched r/the_donald from the start. It was a brilliant demonstration of the mix of humor and censorship as propaganda.
Yeah, more or less. I don't think the Republican elites ever disagreed with the racist resentment politics they'd been peddling, but they intended them to be a means to enact tax breaks for the wealthy and wage wars. They never expected the base to elect someone who made racism the focus.
Not sure I agree. Russian interference certainly helped, but the economic conditions in the country are ripe for fascism. He might have won without foriegn interference, and if he didn't, we might be facing a more popular, more competent fascist right now.
Trump is the worst it's been, but I can't remember a time when things were good. It's been one crisis to the next.
I think there's been maybe a 5 year period where the US wasn't in a major conflict, and even then we were bombing random countries. After 08 the economy has basically always felt on the brink of collapse. Wages stagnate, housing is unaffordable, and basically every "ladder" to a better life it gone. Sprinkle in the impending climate collapse and yeah that's been basically life.
It's disingenuous to act like anything was even okay before Trump. He's just the final stage of a decades long collapse
What, in your mind, changed? To an outsider, the only real difference is that the mask is off now.
We were generally pretty smart about what we were doing. Even Iraq, I think the idea was to overthrow a brutal dictator (we all agree he was, right?) and liberate a country in the middle east that would be friendly and allow us to be less dependent on Israel and the Saudis.
I protested against that war, but it was certainly a hell of a lot smarter than threatening Greenland or Mexico.
Despite all the memes, compared to the average person, W was reasonably smart. Maybe not on the scale of presidents. And evil or not, the people in his cabinet were pretty smart. Dick Cheney might have been evil, but he wasn't a fucking idiot.
We've had our issues and we've had our strengths, but we've never been this fucking dumb on a federal level. We're literally taking advice from Putin.
This is the first time we've had a president who doesn't realize that he's in the same boat as the rest of us. Might have a better cabin on that boat, but if he sinks it... and Putin is whispering in his ear that it'd be fun to sink the boat.
Iraq was about oil and the fact that that Iraq was going to switch away from the dollar to the Euro. You protested but never bothered to learn the real reasons why it happened. The fact that Saddam was a POS is not relevent since the same can be said about most of the despots in the region. All thats changed now is that they are saying the quiet parts out loud.
Jesus christ, lol. No man, you massacred millions of middle easterners, before that you genocided Korea, and did ethnic cleansing in Vietnam. Let's not forget Cambodia, Laos, Libya, Syria, and Yemen. Currently Lebanon and Iran. Gaza. Millions of innocent dead civilians. Tens of millions. Fuck your fascist state and the propaganda you rode in on.
Why the hyperbole? Isn’t the truth bad enough? Must thousands be millions, and every war a genocide?
What is the appropriate amount of human suffering and death, in your opinion?
None. How useful are straw man arguments, in your opinion?
No, you fucking moron. America killed over a fifth of the population of Korea and destroyed 95% of the structures there. It was quite literally genocide. I suggest you do some reading on the topic of how many civilians America has killed in the last 75 years before you make yourself look stupid again.
We just got the world’s first trillionaire, so people might not be impressed with numbers in the millions anymore. Try something like “America raped and genocided billions of Iraqis!” Rape is also a popular buzzword today.
Imagine being too stupid to skim through a Wikipedia article, lol. Imagine being soulless enough to downplay crimes against humanity. Typical American, I suppose.
Lol someone doesn't know American history.
Trump is only accelerating what Reagan started and if you want to be cynical it's been going on since Nixon.
