Oops! They've angered Emperor Shittypants with their refusal to supply their models for military purposes, and he gladly takes their marketing ("Mythos is toooo dangerous, dude!") as a pretext to bully them back. Better pay some bribes to renew your favours with The Diapered One, lads!

What. A. Shitshow.

Nah this is the biggest marketing win they could get. Access remains to the biggest commercial market, but with an official government stamp confirming that it's Too Good™ ? Absolute win.

If we're going to have to nationalize these companies anyways id far prefer socialism over fascism to be the mechanism.

It's actually probably a pretty potent lever from the Trump administration. My guess is that Anthropic might be able to sue and win. But...that will take time. They have an IPO coming up, and the last thing they want is going to be this hanging over it.

It's an argument in favor of having more checks on the Executive, I'd say.

checks on the executive are irrelevant if the branches holding the sticks for those checks literally couldnt be bothered to do their jobs.

the orange turd knows that he can grift the entire american democracy into oblivion far faster than the courts can stop him. speed matters.

they barely able to enforce actual laws now against the orange feces administration, why would new ones matter?

No shit. Too bad the supreme court* declared the head of the executive as above the law while running for office, and congress'* refusal to impeach him for his obvious corruption and executive overreach has effectively declared him as above the law while in office. checks and balances on a corrupt executive branch can only work if the judiciary and legislative branches haven't also been corrupted. But, alas, this is where we are.

* Given that both of these bodies are stuffed with very small people, I shall no longer capitalise either of them

We should call it the inferior (infernal? "infreme"?) court instead.
