It's telling that someone who gets a windfall immediately purchases a status symbol. Almost as if the point of being rich is lost if everyone doesn't know it.
Wealth is wasted on the rich.
If I were rich I’d open up a bunch of repair cafes that lost money but helped people fix their stuff and keep it out landfills and taught people valuable soldering/electronics/programming/DIY skills while bringing the community together with volunteers and cheap coffee! Ah, that’s the dream..
Socialists like yourself are filtered out before your empathy can damage the stock market
It’s a cool idea! I wonder if it’d be possible to cash those karma points in for something tangible without the whole idea going to shit? Like a local shop agreeing to give a small discount to someone who earned a lot of karma on the site? Obviously not trying to reinvent capitalism or anything, but a karma barter system of some kind would be interesting if done right.
My status symbol would be 1,000 acres of land with a self sufficient farm and some recreational spots, and tiny houses for lgbt people to live on.
if you're lgbt and not an asshole, come live near people who accept you for who you are, I baked cookies!
The McLaren F1 was a real drivers car, not a status symbol. At least when it was released, sadly it has become an overpriced collectors item today.
But I highly doubt Elon bought it because he was a car enthusiast and planned to drive it hard
He got it because it was the fastsest car in the world at the time and he wanted the "best" regardless of anything else.
If I would get insanely rich, I would for sure buy something nice. After that I would start saving.
