Imo, paying for reconstruction is the moral thing to do when there is no rational basis for a war. I have no idea whether $300b is the right amount.
Estimates have the total destruction of Iranian infrastructure at closer to $1T.
The highest estimated cost by the OBM for universal healthcare in the US is $290B.
Just gonna leave that here.

Yeah, it objectively has to be far, far less. Tax payers directly funding health providers would destroy a great amount of the demand for such a massive private health insurance industry, which is why we pay so much in the first place.

As a fellow gay, I don't care. War is war and war is bad. Genocide is bad. How horrible the party you're opening a war against is doesnt change this.
