my shit isn't totally locked down or whatever, but sometimes i appreciate having a background in network integration and like general skills/knowledge for A+ certification so i can generally evaluate and set up my appliances to reduce surveillance and general surface area by a fuckload. just disabling useless services, compartmentalizing devices, etc.

i conceptualize my choices as what any reasonable person would do if they knew how, but then ill hang out with my family and they'll just login to every device with multiple accounts, download every single app and login with multiple accounts, leave everything running with full permissions, everything paired to everything, every device on wifi, even the computer next to the router, type their email and phone numbers into any box that asks, all the social media accounts, every ad platform, etc you get the idea.

and, they claim to hate all of it, but its like they think these boxes prompting for account info are a quiz and putting in account info is the "right answer" and are compelled to do it.

the amount of junk mail, spam, promotional texts, and robo calls they all get is bonkers. their house, car, and everything near the bubble of their phone is sure is like more easily monitored and surveilled than adseg at a supermax.

meanwhile, i fantasize about converting my living space into some kind of hardwired-only farraday cage that i can flip a mechanical switch on to go dark and have a home-based stingray to kill every signal within 100 yards lol.
