I recall seeing an article talking about how baby formula companies offered free formula to deeply impoverished new mothers in some African countries. After the mothers went long enough without breastfeeding, they'd stop producing, making them dependent on buying more formula.

It’s also a different ingredient list for third world country formula with much more cheap sugar.
