We used to hop trains when we were kids. It's not terrifying until someone falls under the tracks and makes it out just in time.

It seems like if you are on the side of a car, you would fall out and away. And be relatively safe if you are young or have a healthy body. The other commenter is talking about what sounds like a trip through a whole national park. Falling off a bridge sounds not so survivable.

Yes, there are more dangerous situations than falling under a train. Falling off a bridge may be one of them.
