So the relatively small number of NPS workers in coveted rolls -Not to be confused with the wage-slave hospitality workers that I once was.

Can we please stop blindly reposting fucking twitter screenshots?

It takes two seconds to search this heres one article with actual info in it. As opposed to the words of someone that pays to be on twitter.

But wait, it gets worse! If you look closely, between the volume/speaker icon at the top and the text at the bottom, it seems this may actually be a screenshot of a TikTok showing the tweet. It's a shitception.

More Perfect Union is generally a good news source. So at least it's coming from a good source. I hate when people repost things from accounts like @cigaretteshrimp and treat that like a source

Agreed on all points. I still don't like it. Hrumph!

If they were intentionally trying to destroy those parks, they do not have the means or manpower to compare with what the administration has done already.

These great tracks of natural beauty and resources that have existed since time are not long for this world.

Good! I hiked the grand canyon. It was lovely. The people at the bottom loved us little kids hiking the trail so cheerfully. I want them to get paid well!

I also loved Glacier, so cool!

I rode suicide outside on a freight train through glacier park. Majestic is honestly the only word that defines it accuratly.

[–] feetandballs@lemmy.zip 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is that where you mix all the different kinds of freight trains into one?

[–] YabbaDabbaDipshit@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

It's where you hop on a freight train and ride on the outside. A freight train jungle juice would taste like dismembered body parts and shit.

[–] kboy101222@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So like regular jungle juice?

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Maybe you should assume juice duty

Are there bridges? Are those terrifying?

[–] YabbaDabbaDipshit@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

The tunnels that go through mountains are pretty scary and I heard a lot of of stories of people passing out going through them but it never happened to me.

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

We used to hop trains when we were kids. It's not terrifying until someone falls under the tracks and makes it out just in time.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It seems like if you are on the side of a car, you would fall out and away. And be relatively safe if you are young or have a healthy body. The other commenter is talking about what sounds like a trip through a whole national park. Falling off a bridge sounds not so survivable.

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago

The momentum drags you under if you fall the wrong way.

Yes, there are more dangerous situations than falling under a train. Falling off a bridge may be one of them.

An entire...

[–] bhamlin@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I hope this doesn't stop the national park thirst traps...

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 1 points 15 hours ago

Lots of national parks can be thirst traps if you don't come prepared with ample hydration!

...lol

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 1 points 22 hours ago

An excellent move!

I’d rather use the money I’d pay for union dues to buy the most current video consoles.

[–] Entertainmeonly@lemmy.blahaj.zone 37 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Can't believe i remember this as an actual anti union poster slogan.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 41 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm a school bus driver and we're unionized (Teamsters) ... at least for now. Our contract states that if ever fewer than than 50% of the drivers are in the union, the contract is voided. A lot of the newer drivers are not signing up for the union because they don't want to pay the dues which are around $80 per month. We are surrounded by non-union school districts that pay their drivers about $8 less per hour and don't provide health insurance, PTO or a pension like we get.

In case this isn't obvious, school bus drivers are generally some dumb motherfuckers.

[–] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I hear management will take away pizza parties if we unionize.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No they’ll just have Pizza by Alfredo cater them.

[–] somethingsnappy@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I so wish the original idea of libertarian, which is perfectly suited to the Rockies, would actually take off. Grew up there. There are plenty of fuck the government, do what you want, with a sprinkling of federalism (health care) that used to be very inspiring.

Good. More of this!
