In article it says the probrem was staff resignations, not AI. They brought them back with more money to set up the AI systems.
Whether they laid people off or chose not fill vacancies with experience, the net result is still the same. They replaced people with AI, expecting known imprecise tools to do precise work, and it was really fucking stupid.
A few more coins, one more pull of the lever… next one has to be a jackpot!
