I was looking to get mid rangeish build complete before prices get too bad. a friend of mine has offered to sell an machine of his that he took the gpu and drives out of.
specs
amd ryzen 5 5600g
2 x 8GB 3200 ddr4 memory
550w gold superflower psu
asus prime b550m-k motherboard
atx case with fans
no gpu
no storage
can i work with this build or would it just be better to start from scratch. willing to go for a more expensive build if it would save from upgrading during the worst of the memory shortage. most demanding games i'd play are from-software and kojima-studio releases. have a 1080p monitor so i won't be playing at any resolution higher than that

Get an RX7600 or better and you have something around a Steam Box's power, which will be plenty for 1080p at medium-high settings for new games, or high on slightly older ones. I have an R5 2600, same amount of memory, and a 7600 and get good performance from most games, even new releases like E33.
