i honestly don't think there is enough people interested though. not running netflix or gov apps and more and more apps anymore is a reason why people ditch their old phones for new ones and selling old phones that can't do that seem like a dead end.

big tech's strategy seems to consist of deliberately devaluing jailbroken devices for avoiding just this. they don't want competitors much less a market of competitors based on their own investment. they made this clear.

they know we could have enough adoption of our own tools to force their hands, losing their control over it. so they simply close it down to prevent it.

If people want their spyware apps they could buy a budget android phone for $130 USD and keep it in the draw. I still think there are some people who want freedom from all the crap. I've never owned a good phone. The apps lag constantly and when I have a dozen apps installed it's like a mental illness for me personally and it ruined the battery life and CPU performance. Everything slows down. Great if people can buy a $850 USD phone with 6 years of updates but it's not for me.

Yeah that's true. I'd like to do it myself but it isn't just a money problem, it's also a problem of where do I store all this stuff if I buy multiple phones, when my desk and shelves are already full.
