Went to a networking event tonight. Was pretty casual and fun. Spoke to a bunch of recent graduates who are just massively struggling to find work though. And smart, funny people .. it's feeling a tad recessiony out there. I am so glad I'm not at that job hunting stage right now.
Part of the reason I'm stepping into the role I am at work is because I fear it's crazy tough out there job hunting and this is just a kind of side step for me. The easy option.
I remember it was hard being a graduate looking for work back in my day too. Employers only want people with experience so they donβt have to invest in providing training, and itβs getting worse. Where do the next batch of people with experience come from if no one is hiring graduates? I also wonder if AI has something to do with it. With lower level type office jobs being absorbed into AI activities, therefore less and less entry level positions.
