Hard to look at this "neutrally" when the history of colonialism is right there, with forcible erasure of native language being used, in addition to other means, in order to colonize/genocide peoples.

If anything, I expect there to be a resurgence of prioritizing the teaching of native languages as imperialism and colonialism get dismantled.
