I think this very much depends on the person. My boss is one of those types who feels more connected when he is talking around the water cooler. I am very much not. Before him as boss, I was very much thriving in a remote/travel gig, under him, I am very much not.

Not to say I’m going to change my remote status, for one, I’m 1000 miles away. If I change anything, it would be places of employment.

As for this infographic? Like most things in life - it depends. Figure out your boss, and your boss’s boss. Then do what you need to do to achieve your goals.

My goal? Not to get promoted. I don't want to manage people.

Yep. I'll take the raise and pass on the promotion thanks. And no promotion is worth spending 10 hours a week commuting (to me).
