It didn't happen like this during the Industrial Revolution, so why would they implement a more fair distribution of wealth this time?

Its actually cheaper to do ubi because even when progressives talk about UBI it comes at the cost of removing all other social wellfare programs including social security, food, healthcare, housing, etc.

You're going to get around 600USD a month and told to figure the rest out.

I think the argument is that capitalists require customers, those customers are workers, AI replaces workers, therefore capitalists must provide welfare to these workers so that they remain as customers

It wouldn't happen like so because capitalism isn't monolithic, bourgeoise have factions in of themselves, and these bourgeoise have incentivises to act in search of immediate profit rather than future secured profit

I think the arguement is one example of an institutionalist arguement and why it is so bad, when we do not view it through class analysis and instead try to justify how it behaves through how it works in its most distilled form we just re-affirm its existance without actually making for good actionable advice
