Early last week, I was at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library for its first weekend. At the library itself, despite President Donald Trump inserting himself incongruously into the opening ceremonies, I did not see a single person sporting a Trump-branded clothing item.

The town of Medora, North Dakota, itself was, however, a different story. It wasn’t overwhelming. But for someone who lives in an urban center of a blue state, where even in the ruby red rural areas most people have become sufficiently shamed to shut up about their MAGA tendencies, a single errant MAGA cap is a rarity.

I wish mine would. I love her as a person, but she’s so headstrong about it. She’s hitched all these elements of her personality to it (faith, hobbies, community outside family, decorations). I feel like we’d need some sort of reverse Jan 6, like an event that’s so apparent & bad, not fakeable, but I cannot see anything sticking to Teflon right now.

Rubio & Miller’s recent comments suggest a deeper fracturing coming across America. It’s hard not to believe the worst is coming.

It's bits and pieces at a time. She was a single issue voter. We would talk through points with her and she would think about them and agree.

It helped that she is actually super liberal.

Sometimes you can express emotion by using words.

In this case they were right but I still felt called out.
