Hello new Lemmy friends!
Word on the street tells us our community is regularly making it the all page. While this is very cool news to hear, we can see how the sudden emergence of our posts in your feed might feel jarring and probably raises some questions. And also how, without knowing the backstory, our community might appear less than virtuous, so here’s a very brief introduction which hopefully will clear a few things up.
The woman we’re discussing is a body positive influencer and media personality who has gained fame and wealth by lying, manipulating, exploiting her children for content, plagiarizing BIPOC creators and blaming her BIPOC content editor for it (thereby ruining her career), among other things. Her fraudulent behavior is no different (I’d argue worse) from the likes of Jay Shetty (google him if you don’t know who he is or what he did). She’s the latest in a long line of grifting influencers who are abusing their power, taking advantage of their position and exploiting their followers. The difference is that she’s Canadian. Our laws around social media and advertising aren’t as clear (and where they are she’s disobeyed them), add to that, our mainstream media has protected her from those who’ve tried to expose her grift and silenced/intimidated anyone who’s tried to speak out.
Our Reddit sub was taken down due to reports of copyright infringement, which is unfounded and categorically untrue as no one ever tried to steal her work and pass it off as their own. The mods have made an appeal. While at first glance it may seem like we’re just “shitting on her” the sub has been more devoted to investigation and posting proof of her lies than just bitching for the sake of bitching. The reality is that she’s hurt, manipulated and let down a lot of people. She stole intellectual property and employment, caused mental distress and has repeatedly told lies to boost engagement and profit off her audience, so people are understandably upset that their voices are being silenced.

ICONIC! This magazine and podcast, as polished as it tries to look, is so junior in execution. It feels provincial. Like a group of women cosplaying as magazine editors and "models".
They also forgot to use the filters on the podcast. Where is Thebirdspapaya's snatched jawline?
The editor discusses her weight "release"; this has to be the dummest term ever. Just say "I lost weight", I dieted." FFS.
The way “congratulations” have been poring in over this masquerade 🤦🏻♀️ does anyone possess critical thinking anymore? She’s not an esteemed model. She’s a grifter who aggressively injects herself into any opportunity that will garner likes and comments. Imagine your life’s worth being measured by internet strangers congratulating you for a magazine shoot you paid for 😭

Amazing. What a fraud.
The Iconic Magazine podcast is unbearable to listen to. It has only 120 views after 13 hours. Thebirdspapaya is so self-absorbed and interrupts the kiss-ass interviewer (She's also unbearable). I noticed in this current video podcast that Sarah Nicole Landry looks the same as she did from her 2023 Reitmans and Women's Health Magazine era. Sarah looks remarkably different in her current social media stories. Strange, because she claims "no filters or Photoshop". She's much thinner on her own social media vs others and IRL.
The comparison to the women’s health and Reitmans photos 👏👏👏 all the work she’s had done just makes her look older, and her hair is about 15 different colours 💀

She’s been presenting images of herself that are smaller everyday and then we see this and it looks like a throwback to the good old days and we see the Sarah and Cagla crossing the road oic and that body is bigger than the one she’s posting. I guess the magic mirror has moved upstairs for the daily outfit posts and endless affiliate links. It’s time for her to be outed for her deception and fraud. She loathes her body and calls herself a BOPO influencer. It’s a sham

… wow! just wow. sarah’s infamous jawline, the one that exists on an ever-changing spectrum of snatched. she’s definitely not using any filters or editing at all (/s, obviously). these women are fraudsters and grifters of the highest order, they need to stop making money off of other women and for fucks sake stop masquerading as feminist or empowering in any way.
It’s so damaging for the real women who follow her. She bears a passing resemblance to the woman on her IG page and nothing more but is telling everyone it’s all angles and lighting. Come on!

Years ago, when I saw the pictures of her when she was younger, I had a hard time seeing the influencer she portrays. Now, whenever I see these side-by-sides, I see that she still looks the same as when she was younger, she just filters that old-self out of existence. She is Delusional. Body dysmorphia, Narcissistic PD, Personality Disorder... Whatever it is, she needs psychiatric help.
I suppose the term works if the weight was actually a metric ton of bullshit.
