On this day in 1789, a crowd of nearly one thousand protesters stormed the Bastille in Paris, France, a major event in the French Revolution, commemorated annually as "Bastille Day".
In the months running up to the uprising, the people of France were facing a dire economic crisis, food shortage, and increased militarization of Paris on orders of King Louis XVI. The Bastille was an armory and prison, perceived by many as a symbol of royal authority in the city.
On the morning of July 14th, a crowd of approximately one thousand people surrounded the Bastille, calling for the surrender of the prison, the removal of its cannon, and the release of the arms and gunpowder stored there.
After negotiations stalled, the crowd surged into the courtyard of the Bastille and were fired upon by troops in the garrison. In the carnage that followed, ninety-eight protesters and one defender of the Bastille were killed.
Governor Marquis de Launay, fearing his troops could not hold out, capitulated to the crowd and opened up the Bastille doors. He was captured and dragged towards the HΓ΄tel de Ville in a storm of abuse. While the crowd debated his fate, the badly beaten Launay shouted "Enough! Let me die!", kicked a pastry cook in the groin, and was then promptly stabbed to death.
As news of the successful seizure of the Bastille spread throughout the country, revolutionaries established parallel structures of power for government and militias for civic protection, burned deeds of property, and in some cases attacked wealthy landlords.
King Louis XVI first learned of the storming the next morning through the Duke of La Rochefoucauld. "Is it a revolt?" asked the King. The duke replied: "No sire, it's not a revolt; it's a revolution."

Financial Support to the Bearsite
The lying machine is claiming that because our house is still really humid despite running a dehumidifier way too big for it there's probably a problem with the drain line (or problems with the ductwork but i'm not going into that crawlspace lol). The AC is definitely a factor because the humidity registered by the dehumidifier drops below 40 with the AC off but ceiling fans running, but it goes back over 50 with the AC on and actively cooling
This is it, i added the lines because the llm kept telling me it was perfectly straight when it's clearly not (off to a great start on the accuracy of what it's telling me)
It says even with the dip it's too piddly and small and it will only allow for a 1 inch water seal at most which apparently our big beefy gas pack AC/heat system will just slurp up and then at that point it's just sucking outdoor air straight through the drain line

A running AC should be lowering the humidity, not raising it
Yeah, I know, but when the AC is actively on (fan on auto, so it's not blowing without actively having the compressor running) the 50pt dehumidifier we have will stay around 50+ RH. If the A/C stops completely but there's still air flow from ceiling fans circulating throughout the house the dehumidifier will finally be able to drop below 40 RH. This is after that thing's been running for like 2 weeks straight so it shouldn't be residual moisture in the furniture and stuff still drying out. The dehumidifier is supposed to be good for 2x the square footage of the house
The obvious probable causes i can think of are fucked up ductwork in the crawl space (likely, since the duct work had gaps on the outside when we moved in, but we sealed all that up with expanding foam) but i'm gonna be real the crawl space belongs to the spiders and i'm not going in there. Not all of us were cut out to be @microfiche
Anyway the lying machine mentioned the condensation line and as far as I can tell it's not installed with a proper P trap.
As you can see in the first image, it has a slight bend, but tbh I don't think it's enough for ANY water seal. It dips slightly where i drew the blue lines but i'm pretty sure the dip isn't pronounced enough to actually form a water seal. The second image is from the installation manual for our HVAC system and it specifies it needs at least a P trap with at least a 3" seal of water.
The lying machine says this is a problem and, depending on how I formulate my question, potentially the sole cause for this humidity increase when the A/C is on, because it says the blower on the gas pack is so strong it'll create enough negative pressure to suck air in through the drain pipe.
It says the volume air introduced is inconsequential in terms of added humidity but that it will bubble and aerosolize air in the drain pipe in addition to preventing proper drainage from the condensation pan inside, so all that moisture that condenses just gets re evaporated and sent back into the house
All of this sounds very plausible and i'm leaning towards the LLM being right because, I mean, the installation manual says it is. I guess i just wanted someone who knows what they're doing to tell me if this all makes sense because as much as I talk about using the lying machine i do not trust it, and the installation manual doesn't mention specific consequences to a insufficiently deep P trap

also everyone older than me is like "what do you need a dehumidifier for, you have an air conditioner!" and it's like yeah, it's still like 60+ relative humidity in here without the dehumidifier running
I don't know if it's this p-trap the lying machine is talking about, but something about that AC unit must be working wrong. It seems like it ought to be a relatively easy fix to try?
yeah it shouldn't cost more than $20 to get a proper pvc p trap, I'm just lazy, hate doin' stuff especially if I'm unfamiliar with it, and don't have $20 so my partner would need to pay for it and idk how much of a difference it'd really make. Like maybe it's a case of "well it's technically true what it's saying but it shouldn't be increasing indoor humidity THAT much"
I'm watching this video right now and at 3:30 he takes off a drain line "p trap" that looks exactly like mine, the curve is so slight I really doubt there's any water seal at all Edit: okay maybe it looks like it would have a little water seal but when he says he felt air being sucked back in I noticed the same thing
edit: i don't think I want to jury rig that thing tho especially with the comments saying the 90 degree angles clog up relatively quickly, but I think a pre made pvc p trap should still be cheap
Well, the other option is to get an actual HVAC person out to look at it, but that would be a good deal more than $20
that might be necessary anyway because it also keeps randomly making a loud bang sound seemingly unrelated to it starting/stopping (but the lying machine, when asked, said the P trap situation could be indirectly causing it so i dunno
