Chat is a text only community for casual conversation, please keep shitposting to the absolute minimum. This is intended to be a separate space from c/chapotraphouse or the daily megathread. Chat does this by being a long-form community where topics will remain from day to day unlike the megathread, and it is distinct from c/chapotraphouse in that we ask you to engage in this community in a genuine way. Please keep shitposting, bits, and irony to a minimum.
As with all communities posts need to abide by the code of conduct, additionally moderators will remove any posts or comments deemed to be inappropriate.
Thank you and happy chatting!

the main problem is metadata. Encryption is fine and largely unbreakable, but if you get caught, they just need the metadata of your messages (who you sent to and where) and they can just pick everyone up and probably get those messages at some point.
Going paper is a decent alternative. Traditional surveillance is being trimmed down and replaced with digital-only surveillance.

Many ebikes have compulsory wifi/bluetooth and rely on smartphones to serve as a control panel. The spy shit being put on street lamps ping every Internet of Things device that passes by, or will soon. I hope leftist tinkerers come up with jailbroken firmware, or even custom controllers, that allow a strict airgap, and wired controls, for ebikes.
to avoid metadata leakage you really need to all be running something like grapheneos and simplex chat, probably wireguard every phone to a trusted no-logs server too.
most people wont do that though
