I had someone two days ago somewhere around here blame our PM for not sanctioning the US. Saw that line quite often in reddit, particularly the politics sub, the StopProject2025 sub had a few of them as well. Same deal; it was our responsibility now to sanction or cut ties with the US because…they held a democratic election and the one they didn’t want was voted in. We tried that explanation as well. That’s just one place, I saw the same things on a couple of the others.
Another beauty I saw on the IWantOut etc subs were Americans urging our countries to accept asylum based on…yeah, what? It was a democratic election.
Those on those subs and elsewhere were told, if they voted him in, there was nothing we could do.
Personally? If I had my way, I’d take the defenceless, disabled, trans, minority…anyone who really can’t stand and fight, but that’s always been my position with migration…asylum and refugees first. The able bodied and able minded, I’d like to see stay at home and fight for or rebuild something.
So sanctioning is basically a big government version of a boycott, cutting the us off from money. Like, not buying bonds and whatever, not trading, etc. Asking people to do that isn't the same as asking people to come over and fix the problem, it's asking people to not help the problem.
You're scorning people who want out, but then saying you'd be fine with minorites, who are most likely the people who are trying to get out. Also those monitors you listed are all the Americans you think so poorly of.
You can't say "fuckem all you fix it" while saying "well not all.... And I'm fine with my government getting your government fuck over the people I just omitted"
It’s not an ask though, is it? It’s an expectation that we do something about it. They didn’t kindly ask me or my PM, they said it’s on us for not doing anything about it.
That’s criticism and blameshitfting.
It looks to me as if you think this should be shared out as well.
Yeah fuckin oath I can say I’m happy to help those who can’t defend themselves and those who are able bodied, stay home. That’s helping those who need it and telling those who can fix their problem to stay and fix it. Absolutely it’s the able bodied ones wanting to run.
