There’s unfortunately very little airline staff can do to stop this.

Bullshit. The flight attendants and especially captains’ word is law on a plane. They say stop and they don’t they can and should absolutely charge them with disobeying the instructions of airline staff (something we see all the time) and blacklist them.

They are probably scared that terrorists are on board who support the religious fanatics. You know how americas are.

I can guarantee that will happen more quickly if they are quoting from a different holy text (for American flights).

Source: United Airlines Flight 93.

And then they have their lives ruined by Fox News 24/7 coverage.

This is a big ol set up.

I think the reverse can be true if footage is filmed by other onlookers which then is uploaded to social media for influencers to break down what happened.

The dude in a Target making a scene about the Satanic pride wear (the artist drew some devils in unrelated work) was pretty much a flop.

Maybe, but right wing outrage is an impossible and stupid force.

[–] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 4 hours ago

When I view right-wing outrage, it's so often blatantly wrong (and doesn't pass a simple factcheck) that I used to just believe that they were incompetent. (And some of the arguments they make do show they can't logic).

Then I realized that they doing what biblical scholar Dan McClellan calls costly virtue signalling. The social media post isn't for outsiders, but insiders to signal to each other that they are of the body and belong to the same cult.

The affordability crisis is a Democrat hoax is the same signal as They're eating the dogs which is the same as blood libel, and it doesn't matter whether or not any of them are true. In fact, the subject of these statements are to point out targets for those MAGA members who are looking to express their loyalty with violence.

And why would one care? If I made it on Fox News for shutting down a cultist it'd be a mark of pride. The airline itself may suspend you with pay until it blows over in a week but firing or reprimanding someone for shutting down a nut job like that would blow up in the airlines face.

Let the dumb shits whine and cry.

I suppose that depends on how much you value your life and your loved ones. All it took was Alex Jones shouting a bunch and people who lost the lives of their children literally received death threats over it.

In any reasonable world it wouldn't be a big deal, but there's a lot of dangerous fruit cakes on the right wing these days.

I dunno, dropping a quick 400 feet without warning might get them to shut up.
