It depends on how you say it. I haven't gotten any bad reactions yet. One lady was surprised and delighted to be addressed with dignity for a change.

That's why I prefer traveling by car. Public transport in theory is nice, but in practice it is ruined by obnoxious people.

Bullshit. The flight attendants and especially captains’ word is law on a plane. They say stop and they don’t they can and should absolutely charge them with disobeying the instructions of airline staff (something we see all the time) and blacklist them.
They are probably scared that terrorists are on board who support the religious fanatics. You know how americas are.
I can guarantee that will happen more quickly if they are quoting from a different holy text (for American flights).
