They came in this morning and they were like "yeah we're going to need to put in a second return vent in the floor" which was kinda off putting because I didn't know it was gonna have to go on the floor, so I was kinda uhhhhhh but do what you gotta do about it, then they came back and said they'd do two smaller vents instead, then they came back and said they'll just widen the existing 16x20x1 return to a 16x25x1 and I was like yea i mean whatever works for me as long as it's set up how it's supposed to be, and they were like yeah it'll be fine like this

Y'all the lying machine says that's basically good for 800cfm and maybe "up to 1000-1200cfm depending on how the system is engineered" but it needs like 1200cfm by design. That's half the reason we were paying to replace the existing shit before it breaks, it's been operating with half the necessary airflow for 10 years

Anyway idk I guess I'll ask them what's up with that, but like, fuck I am tired and unqualified to be dealing with this

update: i have spoken with the hvac guys and they too are unqualified to be dealing with this, they said a mysterious guy on the phone with the license was the one who told them they just needed to add 5 inches of space to the return vent, but like, yeah, that conflicts with all the other information I have and also the guy who came out to do the quote said it'd need another return vent

if the llm is being accurate at me my understanding is it needs something like another 14x20 vent
