This post from @CupcakeOfSpice@hexbear.net made me wonder - what TV series/shows are popular in China? Are there any decent ones with English subtitles worth watching?

Depends on what you're into: drama? romance? wuxia? xianxia? historical? contemporary?

Chinese television has a lot of really great things to watch. Moonlight Mystique as Vampire recommended is great xianxia. If you want historical fiction, Lightseeker: The Story of Young Mao Zedong is pretty interesting, Mao is kind of a twink lol.

Wuxia: Who Rules the World, Qingchuan's Veil of Vengeance

Xianxia: Love Between Fairy and Devil, The Untamed, Love Game In Eastern Fantasy, My Journey To You, Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact,

Costume Drama (court intrigue): The Double, The Princess Royal, Story of Pearl Girl

Contemporary Drama: Begin Again, Rising With the Wind, Flavour It's Yours

Contemporary Romance/Slice of Life: Love O2O, Everyone Loves Me, Falling Into Your Smile, Use For My Talent, The First Frost, Ski Into Love, Put Your Head on My Shoulder, Our Generation, A Love So Beautiful, When I Fly Towards You, The Best Thing, Fall In Love With A Scientist, Exclusive Fairy Tale

Historical Fiction: Rose Finch, Checkmate, In the Name of the Brother

Also, IQIYI has a promo code (Survey2025) right now that will give you a week of free VIP if you want to give it a try. They also have a bunch of shows you can stream for free without subscribing.
