A Community to talk about Music from the Australian perspective.

Telling stories of Australia through music.

With few exceptions, Australian acts are permitted to have one hit in the US charts, then fall out of the international limelight.

Those acts however often have lots of other cool songs!

There are also several Australian acts that just aren't famous globally.

That's not punk. Can't believe they cancelled the gig.

I posted a playlist about punk from greenleft the other week. An English band called Benefits had an interesting perspective on 'what is punk'. I've been thinking about it a bit since then. I think it makes sense. Don't really know how it ties in with your comment, your comment just reminded me of their idea.

BENEFITS - CONSTANT NOISE

they discussed their new album with an interviewer who questioned whether their music deserved to be called punk. "For us, punk is not a style of music," they said. "It’s a belief, it’s an attitude. The Prodigy are punk, Greta Thunberg is punk. Keir Starmer isn’t punk. Nigel Farage isn’t punk. Punk is a mindset."
