I hadn't heard that, but it has the hilarious implication that Stargate Universe doesn't have a Space Force, despite actually having instantaneous travel to a shit ton of other worlds for decades.

The Air Force partnership involved consultation about noncombat aspects of the organization as well, to make sure the depiction was accurate. Details like uniforms, on-base conduct, chain of command, etc. A partnership with some other military branch would likely be similar.
