Yes on all accounts. You can play as Mesopotamian, Babylonian, Caananite, Hittite, Aegean, and Sea Peoples factions just off the top of my head in addition to Egypt. The Dynasties update was huge.

more detailed listEgyptian major factions: Ramesses III, Seti II, Tausret, Amenmesse

Egyptian minor factions: Merneptah (unique leader), Setnakhte (unique leader), Napata, Baharia, Dungul

Canaanite major factions: Bay and Irsu

Canaanite minor factions: Ugarit, Emar, Byblos, Damascus, Ashkelon

Hittite major factions: Suppiluliuma II and Kurunta

Hittite minor factions: Cimmerians, Sangarian Phrygia, Malidiya, Alashiya (aka Cyprus), Carcemish

Sea People major factions: the Sherden led by Iolaos and the Peleset led by Walwetes

Sea People minor factions: none, but any playable faction can opt into the Path of the Sea Peoples or the Path of the Marauder rather than striving to become Pharaoh/Great King/Wanax/King of the Universe

Mesopotamian major factions: Hanigalbat led by Ninurta-Apal-Ekur, and Babylon led by Adad-Shuma-Usur

Mesopotamian minor factions: Assyria, Igihalkid, Lullubi, Sutu, Shubru

Aegean major factions: Mycenea led by Agammemnon with his brother Menelaus as recruitable general, and Troy led by Priam, with his sons Hector and Paris and his nephew Aeneas as recruitable generals.

Aegean minor factions: now this is getting really interesting. Ithaca, Thrace, Bоeotians, Aeolia and Lycia.

Oh neat! I wish they had indicated that better, I would've actually got the game when it was relevant. At least's on sale now for like 75% off right now.

Well the Dynasties update I mentioned before, where they added much of this variety, came as the end-of-life update for the game; so you probably wouldn't have seen promo for it if you weren't already playing the game.

Ah, I see. Nice of them to just throw in tons of stuff that was probably planned as DLC, until they saw the game's sales. I still don't know why they decided to focus so much on Egypt instead of the bronze age in general, I don't speak for all historical TW fans, but I do prefer the ones with really big maps to paint.
