New Reddit policy: Anyone who posts a photo of John Oliver is permanently banned.
Redditers rush to post as many photos of John Oliver as possible and thousands of users are banned. The postings of John Oliver finally stop, but since the most prolific posters are now banned, all other postings also grind to a halt.
