In my opinion, what may have happened:
Trump lackey found out at the last minute about the segment and ordered it pulled. But said order did not get to Global either due to lack of communication channel, incompetence or malicious compliance(oops we/I forgot to tell them).
It ran on Global. Canada's answer to Fox News and based out of Alberta. They are extremely pro-US and if any mainstream Canadian TV network was going to force pro-Trump content, they are at the top of that list.
No what happened was the segment was at the finish line when it was pulled. It was fully edited, it passed legal, it was on the schedule, then the billionaire plant running the network pulled it at the last minute
It didn't get pulled in Canada because it was already ready to go, the video was already sent over and everything, and the ruling class here is incompetent. It was an oversight, exactly the kind of mistake that happens over and over
Global isn't Canada's answer to Fox News. Canada doesn't have a Fox News.
Also, did it actually air on Global? From what I heard it was available on their app. That's more plausible because it's a different pathway. Instead of just simultaneously airing what's being aired in the US, they have to break it up into different segments which they load up on some CDN.
...okay but I hope you can admit that while Global news is the Canadian mainstream news media equivalent to Fox News, that there is a huge difference between the two. I'd still consider Global news as reputable a source as any other mainstream Canadian news broadcaster. Whereas I don't consider Fox News to be news, journalism or anything other than propaganda and entertainment.
Yes. That said, they are extremely biased and anything on oil and gas, labour, government, or US politics I will use them as an initial source to go off and fund a viable source from.
I view them as propaganda first, news second.
Sounds like they’re like Sky in Australia. I think ours and your laws compel the news component to be a certain standard but the current affairs and opinion reporting are basically unregulated. Sky’s news is fine but the rest is right wing dogshit.
Global is not like Fox news at all, what are you talking about? Your description matches Rebel News though.
Global consistently outright lies and distorts anything left and center to make it look bad and consistently promotes far right viewpoints.
E.G. look at their coverage of any story that should be pro-worker or pro-NDP. They paint it as a bad thing every time.
Can you provide an example? Fox news is extremely right biased with a poor fact checking record. Global news hasn't failed any fact checks, they use reputable sources, and show very little bias. They are corporate owned and an offshoot of Shaw, so — it makes sense they're anti-worker's rights and more centrist, but that doesn't make them like Fox at all.
I've been out of Canada for a while, so I don't know how Global news is now. I suspect that comparing it to Fox News is probably overblown by about an order of magnitude, though. It's very corporate and very stupid, but not at the Fox level.
I remember when I was living near the Roncesvalles neighborhood of Toronto during an election, and Global News decided to run a national news story looking at my riding as some kind of microcosm of the country. The whole story pitted it as a heated contest between the Liberals and Conservatives. I have no idea where they found the Conservative lawn signs for their establishing shots. The Liberals won handily that time with probably 50% of the vote to the NDP's 35%. I think the Tory got about 12%. It was an incredibly stupid and misleading story that they probably only ran because it was cheap to make (since their Toronto correspondents could drive 15 minutes from downtown in the middle of the day to interview people who don't have day jobs).
Oh no, they still suck. I haven't read Global News in a while, I'm just aware of them. Part of my job includes collating news from around the world, which is why I started a few news coms here to diversify the feed a bit.
I haven't seen that article, so I can't speak to it. I did once make a statement, as a teenager, to a global news reporter that got sensationalized in print, so I believe you about coercing stories that draw more readers. It's just a big difference between corporate spin-doctor shenanigans and fox news' pulling shit straight out of their asses.
Global is owned by Corus, which was spun off from Shaw in ‘99. Corus is headquartered in Toronto. Where did you get your information from?
Ah yes, Corus.
The network that platformed far right con Christy Clark and pushed her as a viable leader.
Careful. You'll break an ankle sidestepping legitimate questions that hard.
They're the one defending a propaganda network.
Against your ridiculous claims that Global is equivalent to Fox News in some way.
No. Their one and only post in the entire thread was simply calling out your misinformation. That's not defending anyone. That's simply pointing out that you don't have a clue what your talking about.
You didn't address the content of their comment. You blatantly avoided it.
