Stay home and re-arrange my sock drawer. I kid you not - I'm immersed in a major shuffle & redeal of home furnishings/cupboards/clothing atm. Hoped to get it done by now, but no dice. Then tackle the bookshelves with the remainder of my leave. Probably won't get to that this holidays now. Some major donating of unwanted cookware etc. coming up in the new year too. Will take a break at midnight to have a drink and wish the new year well and wait for the noise to die down a bit before attempting sleep.
I did socks yesterday. Said goodbye to many beloved socks that had been repaired too many times.
I have to admit I skived off yesterday - didn't get as far as the socks until now. And yes, I fully agree that socks can be beloved.
my Groku socks, my Snoopys
My absolute fab faves that have died a horrible death are a pair of norwegian over the knee fair isle socks in pure lambswool - mended many times and now have completely disintegrated. Alas, moth got into them some years ago and they never fully recovered. Still, 1983 to 2025 is a fair lifespan for a sock. I mourn their passing and keep looking out for replacements.
