Let me preface by saying that Valheim is by far one of the most screenshottable games I have played.

A big part of Valheim is exploration and the lighting in this game is stunning. I like the sense of danger that this screen shot exudes: a lone viking walking through a thick forest, seemingly alert for any enemies lurking behind the next tree.

Tons of stuff was added in recent months, I am giving it another from-scratch go these days, to explore new content :) Last I knew was mountain dungeons.

What's been added since Ashlands?

Okay, let me rephrase "recent months" to "since I last played and found mountain dungeons" :) Ashlands is included in the "new stuff" for me. And then some - I am trying to find out at the moment.

Ah. I thought I missed an update, that's all. I figured it wasn't Deep North. My group still has not done anything more in Ashlands than establish a small foothold, so I wouldn't say we're up to date on Ashlands anyway. We shy away from spoilers and meta tips, but I think that ambition outweighed our real life resources this time

My friends stopped playing on my Valheim+ server when we got to the plains. Here's to hoping we can get back to it in 2026.

I'm rooting for yous! I feel bad we abondoned it (effectively) but, every once in a while, I hop on to grind some resource collecting and meal prepping and I actually feel some awe. We built and rebuilt so much over the years. It's been ~400 hours well spent in a beautiful environment.

I do ego-boost myself by bringing mistlands gear to the swamp and devastating the local fauna. Finally, we have enough iron!*

*they did not, in fact, have enough iron

Highest boss I killed (once) was Yagluth, too.. But later patches to the mountains looked promising, and now there's more gear and some (one?) more mob(s) in the dark forest - fun thing to run into unexpectedly :)

I just wish that IronGate would stop being blockheads about implementing plugin management natively. The most popular (possibly the only) plugin framework requires trusting some fan-made software, which I won't install on my systems :/

All I want is being able to take smaller pets through portals :p
