Cars have gotten so expensive, even used cars are expensive. I've kept my 2008 for 13 years because I can't justify getting a new/used car at 30k never mind the 45-60k range the new cars are at
It's honestly expensive enough that even a 6-10k repair on a car seems acceptable to me. I have a 15 year old car and recently replaced the AC system at 3k for a car that cost 11k when I bought it.
I'd love to replace it. The interior is wearing out, but like you noted cars are 40+K
